Ways to Help

An Indigenous-led and operated gathering place is an urgent need for healing from the hurt and harm of the last 150 years. Your support for an Indigenous Gathering Place is an act of Reconciliation.

Lend Your Voice

Advocacy for the Indigenous Gathering Place is crucial in realizing our vision for truth and reconciliation.

You can make a difference by talking to friends, family, and colleagues about the importance of this initiative, writing to local government officials to garner support, writing your own letter of support and following and sharing our content on social media.

Each conversation, letter, and share helps break down barriers and amplify our cause, bringing us closer to making the Indigenous Gathering Place a reality. Join us in using your voice to advance our shared goals and create meaningful change for Indigenous peoples in our community.

Tell us what the IGP would mean to you!

Testimonials will help us highlight the need for an Indigenous Gathering Place and understand the diversity of the people who would benefit from this special space.

To provide some direction about what to say, consider:

  • The opportunities: possible benefits for yourself, your family, your relations, and/or your community

  • Your senses: the way it might look, physical feelings, and what it may smell like to be there

  • Your feelings: how you might feel mentally, emotionally or physically when you're there

Donate

We rely on grants and donations to further the vision for the Indigenous Gathering Place. We are a registered non-profit society incorporated in Alberta in 2018, and are currently in the process of becoming a registered charity.  Donations are used to pay for honoraria and gifting for the guidance of Elders, communications, and costs associated with gathering as a community. Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the IGP. At this time, volunteer opportunities are limited as we focus on foundational work to bring this project to life. We encourage you to check back in the future as we look forward to welcoming volunteers when we are ready to expand our efforts. In the meantime, we invite you to support us in the other meaningful ways outlined on this page.

Become a Member

Membership in the Indigenous Gathering Place Society is a meaningful way to support and participate in the future of the Indigenous Gathering Place.

Becoming a member helps strengthen community leadership, accountability, and transparency as we continue this important work. Members play a role in shaping the direction of the Society by participating in Annual General Meetings, voting on key matters, and staying connected to the progress of the Gathering Place.

Membership is renewed annually. This ensures that our membership reflects an active, engaged community and allows us to maintain accurate records, clear communication, and strong governance as the organization evolves.

By joining as a member, you are supporting an Indigenous-led, community-driven vision rooted in relationship, ceremony, and respect for Indigenous ways of knowing.

We invite you to walk alongside us and be part of building the Indigenous Gathering Place together.
